ABOUT: The Ott family has been producing wine in Wagram since the late 19th century, Bernhard being the 4th generation and has been at the helm since 1995. When he took over he expanded his holdings to 28 hectares by including some plots from Feuersbrunn and Engabrunn vineyards. An Austrian biodynamic powerhouse right here.
TASTE: Fass 4 Gruner Veltliner from Bernhard Ott comes from the vineyards around the Austrian town Feuersbrunn and functions as a benchmark wine for the Ott domaine. We’re tasting Fass 4 in 2020 and this 2016 seems like it was bottles yesterday, so fresh and so cleanclean. Aromas and flavors of honeydew melon, orange, pear, lime and lime juice, young pea vines and sea brine. The body and alcohol are nice mediums while the acid is a ratchet up from medium. The finish is long and there is room for development over the next decade and beyond.
