Description

ABOUT: Mas de Boislauzon is located near Chateauneuf-du-Pape, northward right next to the ancient Roman city of Orange. This estate has been making wine for 6 generations, and brother and sister Daniel and Christine Chaussy manage things now and have moved the ball forward in a big way. Organic certification since 2012, biodynamic practices and multiple new cuvee’s, and a stellar Vin de France have all been added to the roster. Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre are the main grape varieties, with some of the oldest Mourvedre vines in the area, clocking in at over 70 years old. They also make a small quantity of white wine made from Roussanne and Clairette. They’ve been hard at work and it shows. The wines are some of the best examples of modern, sustainably practiced Rhone wine on the market.

TASTE: Mas de Boislauzon added La Chaussynette, a Vin de France designated wine, to their lineup in 2012. This wine proves too good to sell as bulk wine, so in a bottle it goes and on a boat to America to us to drink. The La Chaussynette Rose is a bone-dry blend of Grenache and Syrah with a beautiful pale salmon color and subtle aromas and flavors of strawberries, lemon and lime peel, wet stones and a lick of salt. Under a screw cap with a medium body, medium alcohol, and medium+ acidity, this is a fantastic pink wine for all occasions. We’re very lucky.

PAIR: Brie and strawberry crostini, soft tacos, roasted red bell pepper soup, Baba Ganoush, egg salad sandwich with cool ranch Doritos, and sundried tomato and parmesan bread.
