ABOUT: Tony Soter, Portland native, has a long history of consulting for some of the biggest names in California. In 1997 Tony and his family moved back to Oregon and purchased acreage in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, calling it Beacon Hill estate vineyard and planting Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In 2005 he sold Beacon Hill and move to Mineral Springs Ranch about 10 miles away and named it Soter Vineyards. Mineral Springs Ranch Pinot Noir is now a staple of our cupboard and also an amazing winery to visit over Thanksgiving weekend They team up with Willamette Cares Food Share and you can exchange cans of food for tastes of Pinot Noir.
TASTE: The 2019 has amazing dark, dense fruits flavors and aromas, in tandem with rose petal, baking spices and dark chocolate. This is a solid, medium-bodied wine, with acidity that carries perfectly through the long finish. This wine has a certain strength and elegance that can see it through the next 15-20 years with grace. Really great quality. PAIR: Scrambled eggs with chervil and chives, Chinese 5 spice tofu stir fry, baked Camembert on garlic bread, and bake brie grilled cheese with apple.
